The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is a recruitment body for recruiting Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ officers for all the Assam Government establishments. APSC was established on 1 April 1937 and is headquartered at Jawahar Nagar, Khanapara in Guwahati. The Assam Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting competitive examinations, and interviews, for appointments to the services of the Assam government in various administrative and police service posts, contributing to the governance and development of Assam. Functions of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC)

1. Recruitment:
   APSC Conducts examinations and interviews to select candidates for various state government service posts and advises on promotions to various state services.
2. Advice on Service Matters:
   Provides advice related to the method of recruitment, principles to be followed in making appointments, and transfers from one service to another. Also advises on disciplinary matters affecting the persons serving under the Government of Assam.
3. Conduct Examinations:
   Conducts the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for recruitment to various administrative posts and also conducts departmental examinations for government employees.
4. Framing and Amending Recruitment Rules:
   APSC reviews and suggests amendments to rules and regulations for the recruitment process.
5. Other Functions:
   Handles matters related to pensions and awards, as referred by the government. Deals with claims of reimbursement of legal expenses incurred by government servants.

1. Paper A (300 marks – 3 Hour Duration) – Any one of the languages from Assamese, Bengali, or Bodo. Candidates from Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, and West Karbi Anglong District shall be exempted from appearing for qualifying language papers.
2. Paper B – English (300 Marks – 3 Hours Duration)
